Christopher Lovely presents “Hymn Improvisations”

The Center of Performing Arts at the University of Mobile will feature piano improvisations on renowned hymns in Moorer Auditorium in Martin Hall at the University of Mobile on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 7:30 p.m.

Christopher Lovely, adjunct instructor of piano and staff accompanist at the University of Mobile, will present “Hymn Improvisations,” a free recital that will include musical classics such as “Rock of Ages,” “It is Well with My Soul,” and more, along with historical information about each hymn.

“Hymns have always had a tremendous impact on my life. The words have carried me through some of the most difficult times,” said Lovely.

Originally from Moss Point, Miss., Lovely began his musical career by performing keyboard music in church. He received his associate of arts degree in business from Mississippi Gulf Coast College, bachelor of music in church music at William Carey College, and master of music in piano accompanying at the University of Southern Mississippi.
