CPA Dean Meets with Arab Leaders

Roger BrelandRoger Breland, dean of the University of Mobile Center for Performing Arts, was among about a dozen evangelical Christians who met with representatives of Arab nations at the Egyptian Embassy in Washington, D.C.

The July 2 meeting involved candid conversation about opening dialog between Islam and American Christians, according to Breland.

“The discussion focused on the need for more and better communication between the nations,” Breland said. “It was a very positive meeting. This was the beginning of the communication process. Ultimately, what we want is freedom to go into these nations and comfortably share the gospel.”

Ambassadors from Algeria, Morocco, Libya, Kuwait, Yemen, Iraq, Bahrain and the ambassador from the Arab League of Nations attended the meeting, along with representatives of Christian organizations. Attendees included evangelist Benny Hinn, Jonathan Falwell and Dr. Ron Godwin of Liberty University, Christian lobbyist Ralph Reed, Paul Crouch Jr. of Trinity Broadcasting Network, Vernon Brewer of WorldHelp, Richard Cizik of the National Association of Evangelicals, and several others.
