UM’s 13th Annual Summer Music Camp

The 13th annual University of Mobile Summer Music camp is in high gear this week. Seventy-three students, grades 4-12, are currently enrolled in six areas of musical focus. These include voice, piano, all symphonic instruments, chamber music, guitar and composition, with the option of jazz guitar for senior campers.

The camp specializes in inspiring young musicians to increase technical proficiency, expand knowledge of music literature and develop performing skills in their area of choice. Nancy Whatley Wingard, an adjunct professor of music at Birmingham Southern College, is the camp’s guest artist.

The closing ceremony for the camp will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, June 16, at College Park Baptist Church. It will be immediately followed by the awards ceremony at 1:30 p.m.

The University of Mobile is a private university affiliated with the Alabama Baptist State Convention. Over 1,800 students are enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs in the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business, School of Christian Studies, School of Education, School of Nursing and Center for Adult Programs.
