UM Student Receives
Recognition of Excellence

David Williams of Mobile, Ala., earned a Recognition of Excellence Award from Educational Testing Service for his exceptional score on the Praxis II™ content knowledge test in social studies.

Williams is a senior at the University of Mobile majoring in social science with teacher certification. He is the son of Bobby and Linda Williams. Williams is president of the UM chapter of Alpha Chi, the national college honor society; and recording secretary of the UM chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, the international honor society in education.

According to the ETS website, the Recognition of Excellence Award acknowledges teacher candidates who demonstrate a high level of proficiency on Praxis content knowledge assessments. It is awarded to teacher candidates who meet or exceed the ROE target score on any of 11 Praxis II™ tests. The target score for each test is the scaled score earned by the top 15 percent of candidates nationwide who have taken the test in the past five years.

The University of Mobile is a private university affiliated with the Alabama Baptist State Convention.
