Baldwin County Teachers Observe University of Mobile School of Education Classes
Education Class – Debbie Ramage and Becky Clark, far back, observe a School of Education class at the University of Mobile. Two Baldwin County public school teachers spent a day observing how college students at the University of Mobile are learning how to teach. The visit was part of their ongoing professional development to prepare high school students in Baldwin County for successful careers in education. Becky Clark of North Baldwin Center for Technology in Bay Minette and Debbie Ramage of South Baldwin Center for Technology in Robertsdale, both teacher education and training instructors, visited classes in the UM School of Education on June 11. Both classroom educators teach sophomores through seniors from throughout Baldwin County who are interested in education as a career. Their field trip to the north Mobile County campus of the University of Mobile gave them the opportunity to exchange information on techniques and trends in teacher preparation with UM professors. “It’s been a great experience,” Ramage said. The educators met with Dr. Peter Kingsford, dean of the University of Mobile School of Education, and Dr. Sue Gober, professor of education, to exchange ideas. In addition, they participated in college classes on exceptional children and classroom management. Students interested in preparing for careers as educators still have time to enroll for fall semester classes at the University of Mobile. Registration is continuing for undergraduate, graduate and adult program classes in the School of Education, as well as more than 40 areas of study.
