‘Amen …Let’s Put it Up!’

The 12-foot metal cross rested on the ground, the concrete block that would soon serve as its base a few feet away. A small group gathered around, held hands and prayed. The men who crafted the cross each placed a hand on the metal – University of Mobile President Dr. Mark Foley and Daniel Metals Inc. CEO Jim Daniel, with Mobile radiologist Dr. Bill Dumas next in line. 

“We now dedicate this cross to you, because you are the one who makes all things possible,” prayed Daniel. Then, with an “amen,” he shouted, “let’s put it up!” The crane lifted the cross built by Foley and Daniel, and “I Am the Vine” was installed on the University of Mobile campus on Monday, March 9, 2009.
