Jefferson’s “Wall of Separation” Topic of UM’s 4th Annual Billy G. Hinson Lecture Series
Dreisbach plans to give special attention to the role of the Supreme Court Justice Hugo L. Black of Alabama in popularizing the Jefferson metaphor. Dreisbach has been a professor at American University for 18 years. He has authored or edited seven books and more than 60 book chapters, articles, and reviews in scholarly journals. He was a Rhodes Scholar and earned his Ph.D. in politics at the University of Oxford and his J.D. from the University of Virginia. He was named the Scholar/Teacher of the Year at American University in 2008. The Billy G. Hinson Lecture Series was established by the University of Mobile College of Arts and Sciences in honor of Dr. Billy G. Hinson, who has been a professor of history at UM for nearly 30 years. The lecture series is an annual event that focuses on various aspects of Southern history and politics. The lecture will be followed by a book signing and reception. Admission is free and open to the public. It will take place in Moorer Auditorium in Martin Hall.
