Church Youth Groups to Experience Ministry, Fun at M-Fuge Camps at University of Mobile
Summer camp at the University of Mobile offers church youth groups an opportunity to work at ministry sites throughout the city of Mobile, participate in dynamic worship, and have fun with youth from across the United States. There is still time to sign up for a week-long session at M-Fuge summer camp for youth groups ranging in size from two to 200. This is the 29th year that the Southern Baptist Convention has operated a summer camp at the Baptist-affiliated university in Mobile, Ala. This year, campers will be the first to use “Ram Hall,” a new dining hall and auditorium on the university campus with room for more than 450. Each evening, students will gather in the new Ram Hall for worship led by SoloFlight, a worship group that blends the styles of Leeland, Coldplay and David Crowder to form music that is passionately driven. During the day, campers will go into the community and serve as God’s hands and feet through a variety of ministries. The experience is designed to encourage students to grow spiritually closer to God and to one another. “At M-Fuge we believe in the power of a hands-on missions experience,” explained Mark Robbins, student events coordinator for Lifeway Church Resources, a division of the Southern Baptist Convention, which operates nine M-Fuge camps in the United States and one in Canada. “Our staff will lead students in Bible study and in turn lead them into the community, prepared to serve where they can minister. From construction work to Vacation Bible school, students who come to M-Fuge will leave their mark on the community. The experience changes lives, including the life of each camper,” Robbins said. M-Fuge camps are open to Christian youth groups from all denominations. Cost is $299 per person and includes a week-long stay in residence halls on the 880-acre University of Mobile campus. The university is located 10 minutes north of Mobile, Ala., and about an hour from Gulf Coast beaches. Openings are still available during the weeks of June 15-20, June 22-27, June 28-July 3, July 6-11 and July 13-18.
