"Saviour," a modern oratorio presented by the University of Mobile Center for Performing Arts, will be performed Palm Sunday evening at 6 p.m. on April 5 and again on Tuesday, April 7, at 7 p.m.
Both performances will be held at Dauphin Way Baptist Church in Mobile and admission is free.
Saviour is a 60-minute musical composition for voices and orchestra and tells a sacred story of God's passion for His people.
"Throughout the work, God's passion for His people is displayed musically in oratorio form with soloists, choir and orchestra," said Dr. Al Miller, associate dean of the UM Center for Performing Arts. "The struggle between good and evil is evident in this musical expression. Ultimately, God offers redemption for man's struggle with the life, death and resurrection of His son, Jesus."
The work is composed by Greg Nelson and Bob Farrell, arranged by David Hamilton with choral settings and orchestration by Ronn Huff.
