October 30, 2006 UM Presents Community Orchestra Concert Featuring Faculty Soloists The University of Mobile Center for Performing Arts will present a free Community Orchestra Concert featuring faculty soloists on Thursday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m.. The concert will be held at College Park Baptist Church, 5860 College Pkwy., across from the University of Mobile campus. The performance will include students from the University of Mobile as well as guests from the Mobile Symphony, members of local churches, and other members of the community. The orchestra is under the direction of Randy Davis, assistant professor of music, with concert master Dr. Elizabeth French, professor of biology. French will be featured as a violin soloist in Vivaldi’s “Autumn” and “Adagio” by Albinoni. Melba Brown, associate professor of applied music and director of vocal studies, will be featured as soprano soloist in Mozart’s “Exsultae Jubilate.” Becky Fox, associate professor of applied music, will perform a piano solo in the first movement of the Schumann Piano Concerto. Dr. John Myrick, assistant professor of music and director of instrumental music and music education, is manager of the UM Community Orchestra Concert series.
