UM Voice Instructor's Free Concert Rescheduled

The University of Mobile Center for Performing Arts has rescheduled a free concert featuring Amy Thomas, one of the center’s adjunct instructors in voice, for Thursday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m. in Moorer Auditorium on the university campus. The concert was previously scheduled for Sept. 15.

Thomas will present a recital of classical and musical theatre selections, accompanied by Teresa Fleming. The program includes selections by Purcell, Handel, Poulenc, Korngold and Rossini, and musical theatre selections from “The Sound of Music,” “She Loves Me,” “Mame,” “Wicked” and others.

Thomas earned her bachelor’s degree in music and voice at the University of Florida and her master’s degree in voice and opera from the University of North Texas. Her professional career has scanned the genres, including the opera and concert stage, musical theatre, pop and contemporary Christian. After she and her husband toured with the contemporary Christian group TRUTH, she sang with The Voices of Liberty at Epcot Center in Florida. She taught at Southeastern College of the Assemblies of God in Lakeland, Fla., before joining the faculty at the University of Mobile.
