Financial Requirements for Registration for Summer & Fall

All students who register for classes make a financial commitment to the University of Mobile.  Returning students may not be permitted to register for subsequent terms until all financial obligations are settled.  In addition, if you become financially ineligible after completing course selection, your course selection is subject to cancellation unless your account is paid by one of the options detailed below.  You are still financially liable for all charges unless you complete the withdrawal process as outlined in the catalog.

Payment Information

Fall Term

The University has three payment options:

  1. UM Payment Plan through Tuition Management Systems. Students and their families may choose from 9– 12 installments. The student must register with TMS before registration to avoid making the $1,500 deposit that is required. Use the "Estimating the Cost of Your Education" sheet to estimate the amount of out of pocket expense that must be budgeted through Tuition Management Systems. The amount estimated for the payment plan must include the Fall and Spring terms. Generally speaking the student will estimate the out of pocket expense for the Fall term and then multiply by 2 to get an estimate for both terms. If the student is aware that there will be changes for the Spring term, he/she should take those changes in account. The student and/or his/her family may register with TMS by mail (brochures are available from the Business Office), telephone at 1-800-722-4867 or via the web at www.umobile.edu and www.afford.com.
  2. Priority Plan: For students who choose to not participate in the UM Payment Plan, but prefer to make 2 payments per term. For the Fall term a down payment of the total amount due less Financial Aid up to $1,500 is due at the time of registration. The remaining balance is due by February 28. A deferred option fee of $50 will be applied if payment is not made by October 15.
  3. Full Payment: To pay in full in one payment, the student may pay at the time of course selection (registration).
  4. Financial Aid: Written confirmation of aid from the University of Mobile or other accepted sources are the only substitute for the required down payment. If financial aid does not cover the charges in full one of the three payment options above must be chosen. It is the student's responsibility to ensure that all financial aid paperwork is complete.

Important

The student and his/her family are responsible for using the Student Data Sheet provided by the Registrar's Office or the online course and fee statement to verify the registered courses/hours, the meal plan and residence hall. The student and his/her family are responsible for notifying the appropriate office if there are any discrepancies between the Student Data Sheet and the student's records.

Summer Term

Payment for the student's first summer term is due at the time of course selection.  Payments for subsequent terms are due by the first day of class.

Penalties

Students who have not paid their balance by October 15 for the fall term and by February 28 for the spring term will be administratively withdrawn from classes and are charged 100% of the tuition.  Students who have not paid for their summer terms by the due date will also be administratively withdrawn from classes and are charged 100% of the tuition.

Payments may be made at the Business Office window.  If paying by credit card, you may call 442-2214 or make payments via the web at www.umobile.edu.

You will receive a monthly statement which shows a detail of your account activity.  If the statement does not reflect the amounts anticipated or if you have any questions, please call 442-2214, 442-2208 or 442-2250 or email businessoffice@mail.umobile.edu for assistance.
