Center for Adult Programs

Getting Started

According to the United States Census Bureau, a person with a college degree will earn almost a million dollars more over a lifetime than a person with a high school education. If you work only 20 more years - you are likely to earn hundreds of thousands more with your degree.

In keeping with the University of Mobile’s philosophy statement, the Center for Adult Programs is committed to meeting the higher educational needs of our region. The Center is founded on the belief that full-time employment and full-time enrollment should be complementary. In accordance with the University’s mission statement, the Center for Adult Programs provides opportunities by which working adult students may further their college education in a variety of areas, advance their personal growth, and prepare themselves to better serve their communities.

Whether you are attending college for the first time, or returning after years away, the Center for Adult Programs offers:
- a plan to fulfill the core requirements for a bachelor’s degree
- a firm academic foundation in a career-related major
- a one evening a week and one Saturday a month schedule

The University’s value-based curriculum consists of general courses that can be applied to any bachelor’s degree at the University of Mobile. Over the course of approximately the first two years, students complete 60 semester hours of general education coursework. If you have already completed a particular class here or at another school with a C or better, you may receive credit for the course. Once these courses are complete, students proceed to courses in their major area of study.
